"When considering my options for a graduate training BDO Simpson Xavier’s programme came highly recommended and for it’s reputation of training accountants. I have received a very rounded training and been given exposure not only accounts, but tax, company secretarial and corporate finance also. I have been given the opportunity to work on a wide variety of assignments. I have also been given responsibility for my own client list, which I have found to be very beneficial. Some of the more interesting assignments I work on include due diligence assignments and the accounts of property developers.
What I particularly like about the work I am involved in is the variety of clients I get to deal with and the type of work each client requires. I have worked on projects varying from property partnerships to large manufacturing companies, both being very different and requiring different interpersonal skills .
I now provide training and guidance for junior staff members and act as a liasion between the directors, partners and clients. I also have responsibility for my own list of clients looking after fees and deadlines. This has helped me develop key skills in team work, communication, interpersonal skills, management and delegation.
There is a young age profile in BDO Simpson Xavier and a relaxed atmosphere and good camaraderie among staff. There is also an 'open door' policy adopted by senior staff members, making them all very approachable."
