Brian McGann, Managing Partner
Brian McGann is Managing Partner and Partner with responsibility for Corporate Finance and Financial Services. He graduated with a BSc from UCC after which he joined Stokes Kennedy Crowley where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. In 1985 Brian established Brian McGann & Associates. In 1991, he merged his practice with BDO Simpson Xavier after an association that started in 1988. Brian has developed his reputation in corporate finance, insolvency, corporate restructuring and financial strategy. Together with establishing a dedicated corporate finance division, Brian developed the business around the principles of providing a multi disciplined service for clients including taxation, recruitment, consultancy and financial services, employing over 70 people in the Limerick office. Brian is a Fellow of the ICAI.

Maurice Carr, Recruitment Partner
Maurice Carr is the first HR partner of BDO Simpson Xavier. Maurice began his career after qualifying as a chartered accountant, as an auditor at KPMG in Cork before he moved into the field of recruitment and people management ten years ago.
Since then he has secured the services of top-flight professionals for some of Ireland's best known companies as well as the many multi-national companies. He advises widely in the areas of employee Recruitment and Retention as well as sourcing staff at the most senior levels. Maurice specialises in Senior Management recruitment.
Maurice graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from U.C.C. and subsequently his Chartered Accountancy exams. He also holds a Diploma in Management and Industrial Relations from the National College of Industrial Relations

Denis Hanly General Practice Partner
Denis Hanly is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and qualified in 1983. He completed his training with KPMG and on qualification joined Wilo Pumps Ltd, a subsidiary of a German company that manufactured central heating pumps in Raheen Industrial Estate in Limerick. He filled the post as Financial Controller with the company for five years. That company had a turnover of approximately €12 million and 150 employees. In 1988 Denis joined Brian McGann & Associates which subsequently merged into BDO Simpson Xavier.
Denis has extensive experience particularly with owner-managed businesses and is also the Technical Partner with the firm. He also covers internal audit work for the firm, both for clients and internally in the Practice.

Denis Herlihy, Taxation Partner
Denis Herlihy is a Taxation Partner with BDO Simpson Xavier, Limerick. He has specialised in taxation matters for the past fifteen years. Denis is a former council member of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland. He has built up extensive experience in tax law and practice and has written and lectured extensively in relation to taxation matters. Denis is co-author of the Butterworth's 'Tax Guide', now in its 12th edition. He is also editor of ‘Finac’, the Institute of Taxation’s publication on the annual Finance Act. Denis has also obtained a Masters Degree in Commerce from University College Cork.

Ger Holliday General Practice Partner
Ger Holliday is a Fellow of the ICAI and qualified in 1988. He is also a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and the Institute of Expert Witnesses. He completed his training in Coopers & Lybrand before travelling with KPMG to work in the USA and Channel Islands. Ger joined the firm in 1990 and has extensive experience in dealing with entrepreneurial, owner managed businesses. Over the years Ger has also gained invaluable experience in assisting clients with the strategic growth of their company including sales and acquisitions, raising capital and efficiently tax planning strategic opportunities. He is also responsible for the Forensic Accounting / Expert Witness role in the Mid West and sits on the board of BDO Simpson Xavier Financial Services Ltd.
